Well, I've never had a blog before.  I imagine that this will be kind of like a journal that I keep online, which is why I'd rather not put all of myself out into the Great Internet.  All at once, at least.

Like the title of the blog, I am a 33 year old, stay-at-home mom in Texas.  I have 3 kids, and 1 husband.  We have a bearded dragon as a pet, named Chuck.  I love my church, my family, and history.  I haven't always been at stay-at-home mom.  I was in the Army in my 20's.  I was in Kuwait when we initially invaded Iraq.  I am now medically retired from the Army.  I enjoy staying home with the kids, but boy, it is a tough job.  Especially with some of the limitations that I have now, which I will eventually get into.

I mentioned that I was into history, and that kind of leads into the fact that my family is preparing for the tough times we see ahead.  I don't know whether it will be an end of the world scenario, but I do believe that it will be a lot tougher than it is now, at least due to us going into more of a depression than we are already in.  My in-laws are building a chicken coop.  My husband and I are looking for at least a couple of acres with a house so we can do the farm thing too.  We'd eventually like chickens as well.  We think we would like goats, however, I've never tasted any goat products and we've got to figure out if we like it first.  We know we'd like cow milk, but goats would be easier.  I tried some soft goat cheese a few weeks ago, and it was really tangy, and not very good.  We still need to try the milk and meat, and hopefully find a type of goat cheese that taste good.

I would very much like to have a garden as well.  We had a very big garden one year, but it didn't work very well, all user error I'm sure.  I've read and researched quite a bit, and have plenty of ideas to try, it's just finding the land first.  My landlords said we could have a small garden, so I am preparing a 5x5 plot to experiment with in the spring, and am now growing onions and strawberries in containers.  Strawberries, you might say?  Well, I got these transplants from a local fruit stand, and they've already planted they're strawberries, so I thought I'd try it too.

I'd love comments from anyone who has something to say.  Please feel free, as I am always looking for new things and websites to research.
